Members of Ballynahinch Camera Club have been busy preparing images for their panel entry for this year’s Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) exhibition.
Each year, NIPA invites camera clubs from across Northern Ireland to submit a panel of images based on a chosen theme.
This year’s theme is “A Great Summer’s Day Out.”
Our members got together last Thursday 6th November and we selected around 15 of our favourite shots from our summer outing to Dublin Zoo.
Rather than chasing stars, this time we focused on capturing the fun and friendship of a great day out through our chosen images.
The evening was full of laughs as we reminisced about the antics of the day while making our final selection.
It seemed the animals were feeling camera-shy when the Ballynahinch paparazzi arrived (perhaps there were too many Canons and not enough Nikons!) — except for one very cooperative red panda, who quickly became the star of the day and everyone’s favourite model. The joke of the day was that NIPA might need to add a “red panda round” next year, given how many shots we all took.
Once all the clubs have submitted their panels, we’ll meet to share and discuss the stories behind the chosen images.
It’s always a fantastic way to see what other clubs have captured and to celebrate the sense of community that photography brings.
Whether you’re just starting out in photography or already have years of experience, new members are always very welcome. You can come along for a few weeks with no commitment to see if it’s for you — and of course, there’s always plenty of tea,coffee,biscuits and good craic!
