There was a real buzz around Edengrove Presbyterian Church Hall this week as Ballynahinch Camera Club welcomed a fantastic turnout for the opening night of the new 2026/27 season.
It was great to see so many new faces among the familiar ones, with a real mix of photographic experience in the room. There were complete beginners taking their first steps into club photography, those looking for a refresher, experienced photographers and even some former members returning after many years away.
The new members also brought plenty of creativity and enthusiasm, with a genuine excitement about photography and getting involved with the club.
Chairman Keith welcomed everyone and gave an overview of the club and what members can look forward to over the coming season. He highlighted the warm and welcoming atmosphere that has always been at the heart of Ballynahinch Camera Club, where a shared love of photography has also led to many great friendships over the years.
The committee members also gave a brief introduction to their various roles and the work they do behind the scenes to keep the club running smoothly.
During the tea break everyone mingled, caught up with old friends and introduced themselves to the newcomers, with plenty of tea and buns helping to keep the conversation flowing.
Next Thursday sees the club move straight into a fun and practical evening of portrait photography. A number of portrait stations will be set up around the hall, giving members the chance to experiment with different lighting and portrait techniques, with fellow members taking on the role of models.
It promises to be a great night, with plenty of opportunities to learn, experiment and enjoy photography together.
