At last week’s meeting of Ballynahinch Camera Club, club chairman Alan Chowney welcomed renowned photographer Arthur Carron as the special guest speaker. Arthur is a member of Dundalk Photographic Society and the title of his talk was ‘Shooting People’!

Arthur is a press and fashion photographer based in Dublin, He’s been working professionally for nearly ten years and has had the pleasure of working with some of the top models such as Elle MacPherson, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Pamela Anderson, Rosanna Davison and Glenda Gilson.

Arthur has visited India a number of times and many of the images he showed during his talk had been taken there. His photographs showed a great empathy with the people, many of them living in poverty. He also showed some of his fashion shots so there was a wide variety of images on display. Arthur explained how he interacted with his subjects and the various settings he used on his camera to get the shot he wanted. It was a very entertaining and informative evening.

At this week’s meeting, Terry Hanna will give a talk on one of the great loves of his life – shooting at gigs. Round Four of this year’s NIPA competitions is entitled ‘Entertainment’ and Terry’s talk could well be very useful to those members who are not familiar with taking photographs at a concert or some other form of entertainment.

New members are always welcome and if anyone with an interest in photography would like more details of joining the club they should visit the club website – –  www.ballynahinchcameraclub.co.uk.
