Last week Ballynahinch Camera Club held its annual Mono Print competition in memory of the late Charlie Rutledge, one of its founding members. Charlie was a very talented photographer and his favourite genre of photography was black and white prints. Members were permitted to submit a maximum of four prints and Brian Maguire from CPA had the unenviable task of judging the large and diverse entry.
Brian gave a very balanced and encouraging critique of each and every print and then announced the winners. Club chairman, Alan Chowney, had a very successful evening and three of his prints were placed first, second and third! Alan’s fourth print was highly commended, along with ones from Angela McCullagh and Frances Price. Terry Hanna and John McCullough also had prints commended. The judge commended the club on its high standard of photography.
The final results of the internal league which has been running throughout the year were announced and the they are as follows:-
Novice Mono Prints – First, John Knipe; second, Paul O’Kane; third, Ciara Fullam and Aaron Noade.
Novice Colour Prints – First, John Knipe; second, Paul O’Kane; third, Gary Cowan.
