Last week’s meeting on 5th March saw three members bring along a variety of equipment to set up a mobile portrait studio for the evening.
Our more experienced members demonstrated how to set up wireless triggers to remotely fire studio lights, giving everyone a chance to see how a studio setup works in practice. It was also a great opportunity to experiment with different light modifiers and softboxes, and to see how changing the direction of light can completely transform the mood and feel of a portrait.
Using our own members as models makes for a great, no-pressure way to practice posing and composition — perfect for anyone interested in exploring portrait photography.
Practical nights at the club are always relaxed and enjoyable, and in the words of one of our members, Leah: “Pictures were taken, tea was drunk, and good craic was had!”
Next week we travel to Belfast for our annual Print Battle with Christian Brothers Camera Club, who are hosting this year. It’s always a brilliant night’s craic, but there’s also plenty of pride at stake to see who comes out top dog!
Ballynahinch Camera Club meets weekly and warmly welcomes new members of all abilities to come along and try the club in a relaxed, pressure-free environment.
