The members of Ballynahinch Camera Club welcomed Chris Curry from Think Pro Images to their meeting last Thursday evening. Chris was born and raised in Belfast, and he grew up around photography and art with his father, Denis Curry, being an avid photographer. Chris’s
first love was landscape photography, but in recent years he has branched into the world of printing and is an ambassador for Permajet paper.
During his talk, Chris emphasised the importance of ‘getting it right in-camera’ if you want to get a good photograph and this is followed by skilful editing on the computer. Most photographers buy the best equipment they can afford but fall at the final hurdle by not paying attention to the printing process, Chris said. He illustrated this point by showing several photographs which had been printed on various grades of paper – the differences were obvious, even to the untrained eye. The correct choice of paper could make the difference between a ‘nice’ photograph and one which was absolutely stunning. Chris certainly left his enthusiastic audience with something to think about before they prepare their next batch of photographs for competition.
This week’s meeting takes the form of a studio night when members will get the opportunity to experiment with various aspects of macro photography.
New members are always welcome and if anyone with an interest in photography would like more details of joining the club they should visit the club website – www.ballynahinchcameraclub.co.uk.
